“hire professionally trained guards that are not racist,”
While hiring professionally trained guards may seem like a good idea, it can be expensive and may not always be feasible for many schools. Additionally, how can we be sure that these guards won't have their own biases and prejudices? We've seen instances where security personnel have acted inappropriately in schools. For example, a security guard in Texas handcuffed a 7-year-old boy with special needs for misbehaving in class. Wouldn't it be better to empower teachers who already have the responsibility of protecting their students to defend them if necessary? What do you think?
