In November 2019 the Labour and Green Parties proposed offering free personal care for older citizens who need help with day-today tasks like washing, dressing and medication. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn stated that the plan will double the number of citizens receiving publicly funded care packages, improve the standard of care provided to them and remove the distinction between health and care needs. The plan will cost an estimated £6bn a year. Opposition includes the Conservative party and the Liberal Democrats who both proposed care spending increases but stopped short of nationalizing it.
