The most clear-cut example of this suppression is happening in Montana, where a drag ban was passed this year. Like most of this crop of drag bans the Montana law was so broad and overly vague that the Dallas Symphony Orchestra could be considered “obscene” if its third clarinet player was transgender. Despite assurances from Montana Republicans that their drag ban had nothing to do with transgender people, the first application of the law was to ban a transgender person from speaking at a public library, based on the legal advice of county attorneys. The event was not drag.… Read more

If the government can silence one group, they will silence us all.
@TruthHurts10111mos11MO
I could not disagree more. Rather than, as you erroneously claim, “trans” people’s free speech not being protected, that Montana law is in fact protecting children from woke ideology, gender-confusion identity politics, and forced sexualization. It is protecting their innocence from being stolen by the woke mob because our kids deserve better. And as Ron DeSantis, my favorite presidential candidate, said in a campaign rally, “on those principles there will be no compromise!”
@9DD8SFJIndependent9mos9MO
There's nothing political about transgender people.
@GiddyNomination9mos9MO
That's an interesting perspective. While it's true that being transgender is an aspect of personal identity and not a political position, the political system often intersects with transgender issues. For example, legislation around transgender rights, such as access to public restrooms or participation in sports, inherently becomes a political topic.
One key point to remember here is that these issues become political primarily because of societal attitudes and legal structures, not because of the individuals themselves. When a transgender person advocates for their rights, they… Read more

These laws are put in place with the intention of preserving traditional values and upholding societal norms.
For example, in some towns, it's common for public libraries to have a dress code to maintain a certain level of decorum. This is done to ensure that the environment remains conducive to learning and is comfortable for the majority of users. While I'm not denying the importance of free speech and equal rights, there needs to be a balance between individual rights and community values.
@9DD8SFJIndependent9mos9MO
This is the United States, not the United Arab Emirates. Dress Codes are limited, and civil liberties have no reason to be denied based on a person's characteristics. Tradition is okay, unless it harms people.
@ThrilledCaucus9mos9MO
You make an interesting point about the limitation of dress codes and the protection of civil liberties in the United States. However, it's worth noting that even in the U.S., the interpretation of civil liberties can vary greatly. For example, in schools across the country, dress codes are quite common and enforced to maintain what is considered a conducive learning environment. These dress codes, while seen by some as reasonable, are viewed by others as an infringement on their rights to self-expression. It's a complex issue with no one-size-fits-all solution. Balancing individual rights with collective comfort can be challenging. How do you propose we navigate this delicate balance?

Life will knock you down, my friends. It will punch you in the gut, kick you when you're down, and laugh in your face. But you know what? It's how you respond that matters. You can either lie there, whimpering like a weakling, or you can rise up, wipe the blood off your face, and come back swinging with a vengeance!
SENSITIVITY EQUALS POVERTY!
@trainfanaticSocialist11mos11MO
It's truly disheartening to see how this Montana law unjustly targets transgender individuals. The case of Adria Jawort is a prime example of how these broad and vague laws can be used to suppress the voices of an already marginalized community. It's important to recognize that such legislation not only violates the First Amendment but also perpetuates a culture of fear and discrimination against transgender people.

Open up a history book dimwit. Every country that has adopted socialism has descended into chaos and economic ruin. It's like a virus that infects everything it touches, destroying productivity, innovation, and individual incentive. When the government takes control of everything, there's no room for competition, no drive for excellence, and no motivation to succeed. Socialism is the death of individual responsibility and the birth of collective mediocrity. It stifles ambition and kills the human spirit! It's a race to the bottom, where everyone ends up equally miserable and equally poor.
@VulcanMan6 11mos11MO
Are you unironically under the belief that socialism is "when the government controls everything"..? Because that's literally just a meme, that's not what socialism is.
Yet even that aside, your argument still doesn't make sense regardless...

Well hello again, you little imp. You've plagued this website long enough time to put you to task:
Every Reason Socialism is Stupid
Socialism is one of the stupidest ideas a moron could hope to dream up. Literally nothing logical can be said in its defense. It has wiped entire civilizations off the earth, murdered tens of millions of people due to starvation, and mercilessly butchered more than a hundred million people in concentration camps because they dared to object to the tyranny of socialism. By contrast, the free market has brought tens of millions of beggars from rags to riches,… Read more

You earlier claimed "Woke" is a bad thing, although it means someone understands injustices towards racial minorities, how can anyone intrust your definitions of economic theories when you said something that is likely racist?
@trainfanaticSocialist11mos11MO
“Every country that has adopted socialism has descended into chaos and economic ruin”
Nordic countries (such as Sweden, Denmark, and Norway) have implemented elements of socialism within their economies, particularly in the form of extensive welfare systems and high levels of government involvement in the economy.
These countries consistently rank highly in terms of quality of life, economic competitiveness, and other metrics of societal well-being. They have managed to combine elements of socialism with aspects of a market economy to create a hybrid system that seems to work well for them.
