The complications of enforcing the law, preventing people who have committed crimes from becoming citizens, and keeping the family together all at the same time are too much for us to consider children born to immigrants as automatic citizens. However, if the child has grown up here to the age of being legally allowed to be emancipated from their parents, then they should be considered naturalized, be given citizenship, and be allowed to choose to stay or be deported with their parents.
