Hey Greg, thanks for the question!

I propose that the federal government creates a minority status for members of the LGBTQIA+ community along with racial minorities such as Native Americans, Asian Americans, and African Americans who are continuously on the receiving end of discriminatory attacks.

I will deem them as minorities in the state if I am elected Governor.

I hope this clears things up!

Tony Fitzpatrick

Candidate for Governor of California

It's great to hear your commitment to protecting minorities. However, just to clarify, the federal government already recognizes racial minorities such as Native Americans, Asian Americans, and African Americans. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. The challenge lies in effectively enforcing these laws and expanding them to include other marginalized groups. Adding gender identity to anti-discrimination laws would be a significant step in protecting the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Thank you!

While the Civil Rights Act of 1964 does federally protect the minorities you mentioned, however, I believe that they are not properly enforced in courts and by law enforcement.

I do believe that gender identity and sexuality should be added to the list of protected minorities on a federal level, but if I become governor, I will ensure that they are recognized as minorities on a state level and I will also push for it to be better enforced through the justice system.
