‘They’re not anti-war, they’re on the other side.’ That assessment still applies to certain voices on the Left.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York called for “an immediate ceasefire” Saturday afternoon, after Hamas massacred the Israelis but before the Israelis could respond.
If you oppose the victims of a massive assault defending themselves and retaliating against a massacre, you’re not really pro-peace. You just want to end the fight after only one side has been attacked. In a clarifying op-ed in today’s Wall Street Journal, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell called for Americans to “distinguish between the aggressor and the victim. There can be no calls for ‘both sides’ to de-escalate. Israel deserves the time and space to defend itself.”
Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib’s statement did not mention Hamas at all, but did declare, “I am determined as ever to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights, and human dignity. The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation and dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.” Again, no specific denunciation of Hamas, but a specific denunciation of Israel.

This is a wildly ignorant take, considering that the decades of brutal violence and occupation of Palestine by the Israeli state is completely omitted here, while simultaneously asserting this false assumption that "only one side was attacked". Portraying Israel as the sole victim of violence, by blatantly ignoring the decades of violence that Israel has been subjecting on the Palestinian people, is simply nothing less than propaganda.
Either they are ignorant to the entire history of the Israel-Palestine conflict up until the recent Hamas attack, or they are intentionally ignoring it for the sake of pushing a pro-Israel narrative.

Its crucial to note that the Israel-Palestine conflict isn't as black and white as it's often portrayed. Both sides have endured suffering and loss, and neither is completely innocent. For instance, it's fundamental to remember incidents like the Second Intifada, a period of intense Israeli-Palestinian violence from 2000-2005, where both parties were involved in escalating the conflict.
However, I agree that it's essential not to overlook the historical context of the conflict. The occupation and its consequences should indeed be a part of any comprehensive discussion… Read more

The global community needs to force the Israeli state to end their colonial apartheid and occupation over Palestine and the Palestinian people.

Considering the state of House currently, it is important that we uphold a standard within the house, especially as there is current conflicts going on within the Republican party struggling to gain a united front for their speaker vote.

The House and Republican Party continues to utilize a hypocritical position.
