I believe that advocating for armed teachers is not a wise approach because teachers play a fundamental role in shaping the knowledge and beliefs of our children. Children look up to their teachers as a source of wisdom and guidance. If educators, who serve as primary knowledge providers, are encouraged to carry firearms, there's a risk that the message they convey may be misguided. This could potentially lead to serious consequences, as students may adopt the idea that carrying a gun is acceptable even when it's unnecessary.
Children often emulate their teachers, follow their values, and hold them in high regard. If teachers they admire promote the use of firearms, there's a concern that children may perceive gun possession as a normalized practice, rather than as a serious threat to our society. This normalization could contribute to an increase in violence, particularly in the context of mass shootings, including those within school settings.
