Biden yesterday questioned the death toll from Palestinians. 20 State Dept cables that cited the Gaza Health Ministry to report casualties & rarely included caveats. In one instance that did, the report said the toll was likely higher.
a State Department spokesperson has sent me for this story. It begins: "No one is questioning the scope of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza or the significant number of civilian lives that have been lost."
"The Hamas-run Ministry of Health has a track record of reporting inaccurate numbers & inflating death tolls. Unfortunately, given the limited ability of outside parties to verify figures provided by Hamas, it remains difficult to determine the total number of civilian..."
"...casualties in Gaza & no alternatives exist at this time to the metrics provided by the Hamas-run Ministry of Health. State will continue to include data from a variety of sources for internal reporting—this is not indicative of how accurate we assess those data points to be."

“Cited Gaza Health Ministry” - that is the source? Enough said.

Biden no problem lying about having seen images of beheaded Israeli babies is refusing to believe a source trusted by multiple agencies. While his govt is doubling down on reducing AlJazeera's coverage of the genocide. Hypocrisy seems a weak word to cover this.

I think focusing on the damage done can help dictate a better response in Isreal from us

I feel like there should be more done to protect the Palestinian people on the inside but still have a control on what is going on widespread.
