A recent study of mass shootings discovered that shooting rampages stopped by police averaged 14.3 deaths whereas those stopped by armed citizens averaged 2.3 deaths.
Armed citizens who are already at the location of the shooting will always be faster to respond than police.
Provided that teachers meet all eligibility requirements to legally own and carry a firearm (background check/CCW/etc.), teachers should be allowed the right to defend themselves and the students under their protection. Schools would also need implement some form of safe access to the firearm, either requiring the teacher to carry concealed on-body or in a locked, quick access safe in an accessible location.
