Should critical race theory be taught in K-12 education?

Yes

I believe that this debate should be short and sweet. First, children should not grow up with the idea of race in their mind. They should not be literally taught to divide themselves from their peers and community members. Division is a major problem in the United States at the moment, so teaching division is not a good idea. Secondly, children should not be taught that their country and government is evil. They should grow up trusting their country.

If you want children to not grow up with race on their mind, then we should be abolishing systemic racism, not ignoring it. Secondly, why are you under this assumption that CRT is "teaching division"? Do you even know what CRT is..? Lastly, no, all people should be taught to be critical of their country and their government; teaching kids to uncritically trust their government is blatant propaganda. People should trust their government because their government is actually helpful and trustworthy, not just because it's their government.

Everything from capitalism, modern policing, gerrymandering, even just blatant white supremacy that still exists, etc. all work together in upholding each other's unjust systems. Each root will have to be torn out, and replaced if need be, whi…  Read more
