My counter argument for this is cities like Chicago and New York which have high gun control also have the highest gun violence. Another one would be that California has the most gun control yet the most school shootings.

That's because we don't have national gun control. Local/state regulations are worthless if you can just drive somewhere else and get one anyway. We need national gun control.
