California passed a new law that will mandate K-12 students to learn media literacy as part of their modules plan.
The bill is designed to help students develop skills in identifying false information online amid a worrying rise in distrust in the media.
In a statement via his website, Berman highlighted the importance of integrating the course into the school syllabus, saying,"Teaching media literacy is a key strategy to support our children, their families, and our society that are inundated with misinformation and disinformation on social media networks and digital platforms."
"As we've seen too often in the last decade, what happens online can have the most terrifying of real-world impacts," the statement continued. "From climate denial to vaccine conspiracy theories to the January 6 attack on our nation's Capital, the spread of online misinformation has had global and deadly consequences."

You can spot the propaganda when they tell you to avoid some source instead of telling you how to examine content.

When someone is trying to lead you to "media literacy," you should question why they don't want you weighing ALL available resources. Because truth be told, this is going to give curriculum on WHO you should be considering credible, not to help you spot it.

Done right, a media literacy program would actually be great.
Kids would learn to question The Narrative, spot the inconsistencies in legacy reporting, and develop critical thinking and skepticism skills.
Probably too much to ask that it be done right, though, if the teachers unions are involved.

I agree, but I promise you that this will be a political indoctrination program, not a critical thinking program. If they wanted to impart critical thinking skills, they could do so now in the English and social studies curricula. That is not what they will do.

“Media literacy” is code for indoctrinating kids on who the approved arbitrators of truth and narrative are.
@GrizzlyStellaAmerican6mos6MO
They will use misinformation to convince kids to trust the primary sources of it.

I don't trust Gavin Newsom to teach anything right. He ought to be focusing on teaching blue-collar jobs &c because to many people are becoming McDonald's burger flippers these days

It is the only one relevant to the U.S
@9H7KNJD6mos6MO
I think that it is a very good thing that the children are being taught and educated.
@9H7DZJF6mos6MO
Depends on the media outlets! Ha

Education is less about educating, and more about training people to vote Democrat
