The Mother is the one who has to carry the child for nine months, and their life is also valuable. Therefore, if a pregnancy is going to be harmful to the mother or the mother cannot financially or physically care for the child, they should be given the right to an abortion.

 @9H9TP9Z from California disagreed…5mos5MO

Mothers should have a choice on whether they want to keep their child or not because everyone's circumstances are different and it is wrong to make someone take care of a child who does not believe they could or want to.

 @9HBWCQKIndependent from Pennsylvania disagreed…5mos5MO

The way a child was conceived is important. If a woman was raped, she deserves the choice to not have that baby. Women have many reasons including income, household, school, etc. that could affect the life of that child. Some abortions are necessary and could effect the woman's life if she doesn't have it. I do not agree with having an abortion if you did not need it, but that comes down to the mother's choice.

 @9H8MPBHdisagreed…5mos5MO

I think it is up to the parents who are having the child. If they are unable to support the child with a healthy life and living they shouldn't have one. SOmetimes adults arent ready or prepared for what is next when having a child.

 @9HBJF9PIndependent from Delaware disagreed…5mos5MO

If a person is raped or they aren't financially stable enough to have the child or they can't have a child at this point in their life, they should be able to have the choice to not have a child. People's bodies are their own not the governments. If someone doesn't want an abortion they don't have to get one. Other people should be able to if they need one.

 @9H7P579 from Alabama disagreed…5mos5MO

I believe that women have the right to their own choices, and healthcare because it’s their body and bad things may happen to a women and she may not want to keep a child made that way.

 @9H7YQY7 from California disagreed…5mos5MO

I believe that it is every females right to abort an unwanted child especially if the circumstances of the pregnancy are traumatizing. people who feel they are not ready to have a child or do not want to have a child and got pregnant by mistake or not by choice should have every right to abort their pregnancy

 @9H7RJPB from Florida disagreed…5mos5MO

Some children are here by mistake, an example is rape. Women should not be forced to have a child by someone who took something valuable away from them, that child could cause for harm than good. Women are entitlted to decide what happens with their body because they are going through it. They have to choose what is best for them at that moment.

 @9H9828YWomen’s Equality from Georgia disagreed…5mos5MO

A fetus is not a child. Whether you believe it is a creation of God or not is not relevant, due to that creation not being conceived or carried by you. The parents, especially the mother, should not be told what to do with their creation.

 @9H7Q39LDemocratdisagreed…5mos5MO

God should not interfere with the life of a human on earth. Once the child is born they are ignored and given a sad life and possibly orphaned. Stopping abortion would just mean stopping safe abortion.

 @9H7PWFYPeace and Freedom from South Carolina disagreed…5mos5MO

Women should have the choice if they want to keep or abort their child, as it is theirs, but if they didn't want a baby, they should not have gotten pregnant.

 @9H7YC6Xdisagreed…5mos5MO

The greatest counterargument I have for this stance comes from the sentence where it states "They should not be held accountable for the actions of the mother or father." The actions might not have come from the mother, but more specifically from the father. If the child is a product of rape or incest then the mother would have a constant reminder of what she went through. A child could absolutely ruin a mother's life if it's unwanted and undesirable.

 @9H7QCQVWomen’s Equality from Kentucky disagreed…5mos5MO

Religion should not be another leading cause to trauma or rape. Religion is a safe place, not a way to demean people in times of hurt or need.

 @9H7S3P8disagreed…5mos5MO

Their life does hold value but why bring a child into the world if you are not financially capable of providing for that child. Some people get pregnant by non consensual sex if that does happen the mother should not be obligated to carry through with having that child.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington corrected…5mos5MO

It is not the baby's fault if it was a wanted or unwanted pregnancy. It is just as human as it would have been in a marital situation, the circumstances from whence it was conceived have nothing to do with it. PERIOD.

 @9H7Q5SQ from Iowa disagreed…5mos5MO

It is the upcoming mother's choice to decide whether she wants an abortion or not until the fetus has reached a certain stage. If someone decides to get an abortion then isn't that was God has chosen for them to do.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

The basic structure of your argument, which is a fallacious enthymeme, is

(1) All things that human beings do God has chosen for them to do and are therefore justified [this is the unstated major premise]

(2) Abortion is something that human beings do [stated minor premise]

(3) Therefore God has chosen for them to do it and it is justified and right [stated conclusion]

You can easily see when the missing premise that you did not state to cloak the logical fallacy (intentionally or unintentionally) is supplied the argument is clearly absurd. You could, under the same line of reasoning, argue with equal validity that slavery and Holocaust must have been right. Therefore your conclusion is untrustworthy. If you would like to continue this debate, clearly stating ALL premises, however, I will be glad to oblige you.

 @9H7PZ5Y from Iowa disagreed…5mos5MO

If a child is conceived by rape the mother should be allowed to get an abortion, because having the baby can cause more trama or the mother may not be able to properly love and care for the child

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

This is the basic structure of your argument, which is a fallacious enthymeme:

(1) Children conceived through rape are not actually human beings and can justly be killed [unstated MAJOR PREMISE]

(2) Certain children are conceived through rape

(3) Therefore certain children can be killed justly

You also sprinkled in something about the mother not being able to properly love and care for the child. Let me ask, DOES MURDER SOLVE A LOVE PROBLEM OR MAKE IT WORSE? There's a line a million long of people looking to adopt unwanted babies. Give the child to one of these individuals instead of killing it if you don't love it.

 @9H7RR8M from Alabama disagreed…5mos5MO

If the “child” cannot live if it is taken out of the mothers stomach then and there. Then it’s not a living child.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

This has horrible implications for the born as well as the unborn. Consider those on life-support, who cannot survive without the assistance of others. If you were consistent, their life would have no value. But you aren't (thank God). Instead you're basing this off of emotion.

 @9H7Q7R4 from Kansas disagreed…5mos5MO

How are they being held accountable if they cannot even breathe on their own yet? I'm a Christian, but I will never shame someone for having an abortion when the child is conceived through rape or incest.

 @9HF39CV from Colorado disagreed…5mos5MO

What about victims of rape? In these cases, the mother did not choose to have a child and she often may not be able to raise a child in the best way possible. And what about cases in which giving birth to child would kill the mother or the child or both?

 @9HHCPR9Socialist from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

Life holds value from birth; before this point the factors that make 'murder' unethical are not meaningfully present (sentience, impact on development, ability to feel pain or emotions). The integration of religion into government is unviable, so such religious arguments can be ignored. Additionally, it is far better for parents who even consider aborting to be granted the ability to do so, as they are more likely to lack the ability to properly raise or even love said child.

 @9HH7JD3 from Nebraska disagreed…5mos5MO

The US is a country that has freedom of religion. People don’t have to agree with the notion that they are made in the image of God. A lot of people will say things like this but fail to sympathize with those in the situations where abortion is a necessary thing. The adoption system for example is a system that is extremely flawed. We should improve that before saying anything else about abortion. A lot of parents just don’t have the financial means to support a child.

 @9HB4XZN from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

Stop putting your religious beliefs on people not everybody cares about god as much as you do. Also what about people who victims of rape or incest think about what they would go through bearing the child of their trauma.

 @9H8VW8N from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

To keep religion out of the argument. God is not the one I charge of taking care of the child but the parents. If the parent conceiving the child is not confident in their ability to care for the child they shouldn’t be force to.

 @9H9RGN7 from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

A law should not be held based on religion considering god was mentioned violates the First Amendment right of freedom of religion also, if the mother and father can afford the baby. Who is going to take care of them? Would the parents rather send them to be adopted or in a foster home which both are known to traumatize kids from an early age? Last, in the great year of 2023 women are not allowed to abort a fetus after a traumatic event. As spectated around the world women do get raped and do get pregnant by it. To raise the child of the person who assaulted you is extremely traumatic, imagine what these women go through in postpartum depression. The almost of suicide, murder-suicide, and murder rates could spike. By not taking these factors and many more into account you are setting the child and mother up for failure

 @9H7V6WKdisagreed…5mos5MO

Whether a child's life holds value, so does the person giving birth. The mother should be allowed to choose if they should give birth to someone who could change their entire life. Also, a child who is "made in the image of God" also should be with God if they want to be. They don't even have to be helf accountable for the actions of the mother and father. They die before they're alive. Children never had a say in anything, why would they have a say in something because they aren't born yet?

 @9HBTKGVWomen’s Equality from California disagreed…5mos5MO

The mother should have the right to keep or not keep the fetus. The mother could be struggling financially, and it would potentially harm the baby by not getting fed or by being abandoned while the mother goes off and works 10 hr shifts to make ends meets. some other could also suffer from mental health issues that interfere with her daily life skills by even just simply taking care of herself, so what makes other people think that she could take care of the baby? The baby could also come from a rape situation a molestation situation. Overall, it doesn’t matter if the mother would not like to keep the fetus the mother should not have to keep the fetus. It is her choice.

 @9H89Y9P from California disagreed…5mos5MO

My stance on abortion is pro-choice due to the fact that rape and incest exist and sadly happens to many women so I think every women out there should get a decision on whether to keep or abort there babies and no one should be forced to keep something that they can fully commit or dedicate themselves to.

 @9H83BM3disagreed…5mos5MO

Abortion shouldn't be forced from anyone for a women to give abortion. I disagree with force of abortion, it should be up to the women thoughts if she wants to or not.

 @9H7QVKWIndependentdisagreed…5mos5MO

A child who is not born yet is not yet a child. They are at that very moment, a meaningless and unfortunately worthless fetus. God has nothing to do with this topic, and religion is one of the things that stops people or sways people's opinions on topics like abortion. If You were not religious, it would be likely that you agree that a fetus isn't worth much and should be aborted if it is within the interest of the mother and father. They cannot be held accountable if they are not born yet. The parents life has more meaning than the child.

 @9H7WTZW from New York disagreed…5mos5MO

People that have accidental children normaly arent finacially stable and cant help the kid. so aborting is the best option

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington corrected…5mos5MO

Then they can give the child up for adoption. Murder doesn't solve any problems.

 @9H7QH3T from Texas disagreed…5mos5MO

Though there is value in the sentiment, division of church and state is crucial and choice is the most important part of this discussion.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington commented…5mos5MO

With equal validity you might argue that banning abortion infringes on separation of church and state because the bible says not to murder. It's absurd.

 @9HHS7P3 from Nebraska disagreed…5mos5MO

Just because the fetus might be human, does not mean it will be a good one. It could grow up to be a doctor or a serial killer. There is no telling who it might grow up to be. And, not to mention, it does not have a mind yet. It will not know that it is being aborted. Getting aborted is better than being neglected.

 @9H7YRYWRepublican from Wisconsin agreed…5mos5MO

I agree with this comment. As a Christian, I believe that all lives matter equally, including unborn lives.

 @9HC3K48 from Indiana disagreed…5mos5MO

A women should not be forced to give birth to a baby she doesn't even want. Women deserve to have the choice of what to do with the child.

 @9HB8R3Ndisagreed…5mos5MO

The women that is pregnant may have been from a traumatic situation that can make the child grow into an unhealthy lifestyle.

 @9H8RZRT from Georgia disagreed…5mos5MO

With a decision as life changing as having a baby be brought into this world and taken care of it should be up to the mother to decide to keep it.

 @9HDF8R5 from California disagreed…5mos5MO

Bodily integrity is extremely important and every woman deserves the right to have the opportunity to make her own choices

 @9HB6Z64 from California disagreed…5mos5MO

The embryo isn't considered a child at the time of an abortion, which goes against the claim. What happens if the abortion is needed and the fetus has died and is at risk to the mother. There are more good reasons for abortion then they are for the reasons against.

 @9HB3JG2 from Michigan disagreed…5mos5MO

This is completely ridiculous because first of all there is no god. second what makes a fetus alive. they are not truly human until later in pregnancy so at the very least the first 4 months should be allowed.

 @9H8RL9G from North Carolina disagreed…5mos5MO

healthcare is in the constitution. abortion IS healthcare. until it can live outside a uterus shut up and mind your bisness

 @9HH4HJ2 from Kentucky disagreed…5mos5MO

The first amendment states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. By stating children are made in the image of god and using that as an argument to abolish abortion you are forcing a religious ideology upon the public in said law.

 @944N5SDSocialist  from Arkansas disagreed…5mos5MO

Whose God? I don't believe in your God, so what does this argument mean to me? This isn't even an argument; it's your own religious stance.
