Result of the UN Security Council vote for a Ceasefire in Gaza proposed by tte UAE.
Against it: 1 vote (USA)
For it: 13 votes
Abstentions:1 vote (UK)
The US vetoed a UN security council resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
The vote on the draft resolution put forward by the United Arab Emirates underscored the US and Israel’s growing diplomatic isolation, as the Israel Defense Forces continue to press the military effort against Hamas in southern Gaza.
Thirteen security council members voted in favour of the resolution. The UK abstained.
Speaking after the vote, US deputy ambassador to the UN Robert Wood said Washington could not support an unconditional ceasefire, which would only benefit Hamas.
“This is not only unrealistic but dangerous, it would simply leave Hamas in place, able to regroup and repeat what it did on October 7,” Wood said, adding it would “only plant the seeds for the next war”.

Biden just bragged about the global coalition he’s built, stronger than ever. Yet here, the US stands alone with Israel in the face of evil.

By telling Netanyahu go ahead and completely annex Gaza, the Weat Bank and forcibly remove all Palestinians from their land.
We are living in the territory of the absurd.
Joe Biden, to protect Israel, isolates the US from the world, makes the US the only country on the UN Security Council to vote against a cease-fire.
It has to be very difficult to be a Republican and find a way to criticize Biden's foreign policy.
How could Nikki Haley do it?
@AmiableTaxation5mos5MO
DeSantis influence rise in defense of Biden's core foreign policy.
Why is it for Americans to fund a war over who rules Gaza?
The reason China has most of the world on its side and is growing is people like you who tell the world you don't care about its views.
It has nothing to do with funding.
Israel doesn't require any funding to destroy Hamas. It would be nice if we supplied Iron Dome but it isn't necessary.
China always votes against us. Not sure who you think is with China.
@AmiableTaxation5mos5MO
Israel does not survive without US funding. We sent 10000 tons of military equipment, 14 billion dollars so they can kill women and children using an AI prediction machine. We buy and fund thousands of Tamir misiles on a yearly basis. Stop writing stupid things please.
@AmiableTaxation5mos5MO
Right, because a ceasefire allows Hamas to remain in power. Which is obviously unacceptable.
It has to do with the entire country, which is more likely to pertain to my life.
@9HJYNSB5mos5MO
Israel is just defending itself i side with Israel
@9HJYKBCLibertarian5mos5MO
Israel needs a free hand to deal with Hamas and other terrorist groups
@9HJXS3C5mos5MO
Less violence is important to foster peace in the Middle East.
I believe the US should vote for a ceasefire and permanent end to the war! Gaza is being attacked and should not have to live every day in fear.
@GPHag5mos5MO
US showing themselves to be the bad guys once again.
@9HJWJ8S5mos5MO
Ceasefire should not happen, Israel is under attack
@8YLLS3B 5mos5MO
The U.S. needs to cut all ties to Israel, and support Palestine.
@9HJVXWPRepublican5mos5MO
Israel is in the right on almost every account.
@9HJVLQP5mos5MO
It shows that the US still plays a leading roll in bringing peace to the middle east
@9HJT32P5mos5MO
I think it's disgusting that the US did not support a ceasefire.
@9HJSHD8Progressive5mos5MO
The call for a ceasefire by the UN is bull **** , especially when it includes no provision for the release of the hostages. The UN clearly has no interest in doing anything about this conflict, and the international community bears the most blame for letting Gaza stew since 2005.
@9HJS4KJ5mos5MO
I believe it is deplorable on the United States' end.
@9HJS2CR5mos5MO
CEASEFIRE NOW!!! FREE PALESTINE!!!
@Gr33nPartyRobinDemocrat5mos5MO
it's not difficult. No ceasefire unless all hostages are released. There is a political entity in power in Palestine and they bear responsibility for the consequences for their actions.
