President Biden called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to make changes in order to find a long term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict during a fundraiser in Washington on Tuesday.
This is a shift for Biden, who has mostly refrained from openly criticizing the Israeli leader and his policies since the Oct. 7 attack and signals growing disagreement about what happens after the war.
"I think he has to change, and with this government, this government in Israel is making it very difficult for him to move," the president said in remarks off-camera.
The president said the Israeli government "is the most conservative government in Israel's history" and doesn't support a two-state solution.
Biden warned that Israel is losing international support over the war in Gaza and therefore needs to change its policy.
Netanyahu has in recent days expressed renewed opposition to any role for the Palestinian Authority in governing Gaza after Hamas.
Netanyahu said both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, with whom his government is cooperating on security, want to destroy Israel during a hearing on Monday in the Knesset.
Biden and other senior members of his administration have said in recent weeks that the Palestinian Authority should make reforms but must be involved in any future solution for Gaza after the war.

Perhaps it is time to look for new, long lasting alternative, outside of the current paradigm.
Why should Israel be hopeful with Fatah running Gaza, when the latter runs a "pay for slay" program?
It's fair for Israel to demand a new alternative to the current options.
Biden is the worst excuse for a president I have seen in my 74 years of life. I didn't think anyone could ever outdo Carter, but then up walks Joe and he says "here, hold my beer".

Biden is also openly and publicly funding genocide of unarmed civilians, women and children in Gaza. They are a bunch of hypocrites
@EmptySocialJusticeSocialist5mos5MO
Biden pretends the US isn’t a central part of the destruction of Gaza and the dismemberment of Palestine, having sent over 15,000 bombs to Israel for its genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza, and states the bleeding obvious that the most-casual observer could have said years ago.

The United States should limit its funding to Israel and move to end the conflict in Gaza, Israel has shown that it has no respect for International Law, the International Community, or the Palestinian People. Although they were attacked by Hamas, this does not justify what they are doing in Gaza, a retaliation was needed yes, not a massacre. I believe Israel has the right to defend itself as much as the Palestinians, and with the right in power in Israel, peace will be a hard thing to find. The treatment of the Palestinian people has led to this retaliation of Hamas, and although not justified, its understandable and is a complex web of cause and effect. And Netanyahu is a dictator, who we should not support if the United States has any respect for itself as the beacon of Democracy

It is showing a protection of a foreign democratic state.
@9HLFYMGIndependent5mos5MO
Israel needs support. This is in response to a terrorist attack. Biden needs to resign.
@9HLKZKF5mos5MO
I think Biden needs to keep supporting Israel in its mission to eliminate Hamas, and that he should do everything he can to galvanise global support for Israel.
@9HLKB8D5mos5MO
I think Biden is right. I support Israel's right to defend itself, but they cannot make the same mistakes we did after 9/11. They have to be humane and once the war is over, they must not occupy gaza, as it will only exacerbate anti-israeli sentiment and play right into Hamas's hands.
