United Auto Workers members say there is a dissonance between the union’s endorsement of Biden and its call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Biden was interrupted by UAW members as he accepted an endorsement from the union.
"Ceasefire now!" they chanted, before quickly being escorted out.
At least 527 workers signed a petitionOpens in a new tab— organized by members of UAW Labor for Palestine, a rank-and-file group — pressing union leadership to only endorse political candidates who publicly call for a ceasefire and to vote accordingly. The UAW International Union endorsed a ceasefire in Gaza in December, and Fain himself joined a group of lawmakers outside the Capitol to call for a ceasefire in Gaza last month.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., addressed the conference on Wednesday and received a standing ovation as she spoke about a ceasefire and solidarity with Palestine — something the UAW’s own Twitter account
UAW leader Fain has repeatedly spoken on the cause for peace in Gaza, delivering remarks as recently as Tuesday. “We don’t stop our fight for justice at the workplace,” he said Opens in a new tab at the conference. “We don’t stop our fight for justice because it’s not the right time. When and where there’s a war, whether it’s in Vietnam or Gaza, we call for peace.”.

Calling for a ceasefire and then endorsing the one guy on the planet who is currently standing in the way of a ceasefire.
@BlissfulEggsRepublican4mos4MO
95% of the UAW's members do not give a **** about the Middle East, one way or another. An AUTOWORKER'S UNION is concerned primarily about jobs in the auto industry?! SHOCKING
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Yeah, not to mention that Israel really isn’t a determining factor for presidents at this point since ALL THREE candidates will not stop aiding it, so for the love, stop letting those workers disqualify the only pro-union president in the party that has a chance.

Biden needs to be impeached. He is the worst president, other than Obama. He’s a dumb old democrat that’s about to croke and die. He doesn’t know what he’s doing, and he’s done screwed this country over too many times.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution4mos4MO
Both sides in this clash are horrible, stupid, and evil. But I'm still amused to see this – the Democrat Party is being torn to shreds, it is splitting asunder, just in time for Trump to scoop up the presidency and save our country.
The UAW endorsing Biden is a sad day for the labor movement. How can you endorse Biden after you called for a ceasefire and he prevented the railroad workers from going on strike? A strong labor movement CANNOT be tied to the duopoly. Kshama Sawant taught us this!
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Ironically, he did help make up for the rail strike, the IRA specifically has actually helped improve workers conditions, and for the first time, government can negotiate the price of medicine. I don’t like that he did that before, but he’s the only mildly pro-worker president on the list, don’t ever forget that.

Israel is genociding the Palestinians
@9JDQG3K4mos4MO
i feel we should figure out which side we wanna fight with and stick with them and support them
@9JDFMNM4mos4MO
I think we should support Israel but both sides are in the wrong
@9JDQ2LWPeace and Freedom4mos4MO
I believe no one should be at war but we’re sitting by and supporting people who are bombing another village which is not okay.
@9JDJ6YQ4mos4MO
Supporting Palestine should be illegal.
@9JDC3TX4mos4MO
We should not get involved in these type of things.
