The president finally acknowledged last week that illegal immigration is a “crisis,” and he vowed to seal the border with Mexico if Congress passed legislation that would give him emergency authority to do so. “If that bill were the law today,” Mr. Biden said at a campaign event Saturday, “I’d shut down the border right now and fix it quickly.”
Mr. Trump has been pressuring House Republicans to kill any immigration compromise, and he almost certainly has their ear. The former president leads the incumbent in head-to-head polling, and he’s been endorsed by a majority of Republicans in both chambers of Congress, including Speaker Mike Johnson. Mr. Biden may have decided that it’s finally time to take border security seriously, but it isn’t clear that Republicans in Congress take the president seriously.
That leaves the country with what is in a way a presidential race between two incumbents, each trying to make the contest a referendum on the other’s first-term record. Which makes the Biden White House’s dithering on immigration all the more remarkable. Border security is an issue that plays to Mr. Trump’s strengths, and it has become demonstrably worse on Mr. Biden’s watch. If the president is trying to get to Mr. Trump’s right on illegal immigration, it’s a fool’s errand.
Before the 2020 election, Joe Biden publicly announced to the world: “If you’re fleein’ oppression, you should come.” He promised that there would be a “surge” to the border. That’s a campaign promise he kept to illegal immigrants, not to the American citizens who are footing the bill for this “surge.”
By failing to enforce US immigration law, the Biden administration has essentially nullified US immigration law. By failing to enforce US immigration law, the Biden administration has failed in its constitutional duty to “protect each of them (each state) against invasion.” (Article IV, § 4).

"Mr. Trump wants Republicans to do nothing so he can run on the issue." This is pure speculation. Everything that has been leaked about the bill would indicate that in the hands of a Biden administration, no improvement would be made. The truth is that Biden did the opposite of Trump on the border creating the mess we have today. If he were sincere about fixing the border, he certainly has the power to reverse his own terrible decisions which created the crisis. Without some mechanism in a border bill to force the President to act, Republicans don't believe, and rightly so, that B...

Mr.Biden has totally ignored the crisis at the southern border since Jan 20, 2021. We are paying the price.

How about instead of pointing a finger at Trump over the bill, we all wait and see what’s in the immigration bill first? If true, though, as reported by CNN, the bill would allow up to 5,000 illegal immigrants per day; that’s almost 2 million per year with the got-aways. I wouldn’t sign that bill. It’s merely a continuation of our unfettered borders. Biden could stop the migrant crisis with the stroke of a pen. Is he doing that? No. He does not want to stop the invasion. Someone needs to protect the citizens of this country, and it doesn’t appear to be Biden or his cabinet members.
@9JJQPNY4mos4MO
everyone supported trumps stance on immigration and Biden is a puppet and doesnt actually know how to handle things and he knows that trump is right.
@9JJQGYD4mos4MO
even though people are immagrants they still need to be treated like people
@Patriot-#1776Constitution4mos4MO
These aren't "immigrants" they are criminal aliens
@9JJSCMM4mos4MO
Biden is trying to get votes this election
@Patriot-#1776Constitution4mos4MO
Yep, he'll turn his back on you a second time if you vote for him again
@Patriot-#1776Constitution4mos4MO
I don't care what he "sounds" like, I care how he ACTS. Rather than attempting to stop the Invasion, he's spending his time TEARING DOWN TEXAS'S BORDER DEFENSES! Deeds, not words.
@9JJZBDD4mos4MO
Federal govt should not tell TX how to guard it's borders.
