Donald Trump was right where they were wrong.
Getting in bed with Vladimir Putin for cheap energy was both foolish and deeply disloyal to the West. German defense policy was self-defeating and dangerous. China wasn’t a reliable partner.
“Ich bin ein Berliner,” was President John F. Kennedy’s message to Germany. If Donald Trump returns to the White House, his message will likely be “Das habe ich gleich gesagt,” or “I told you so.”
Last year Germany’s GDP shrank 0.3%, and last week the government slashed 2024 growth estimates to a pitiful 0.2%. Economists expect negative growth during the first quarter of 2024, placing the country in recession.
The chemical giant BASF announced €1 billion in spending cuts in its German operations, blaming a mix of weak demand in the German market and “structurally higher energy prices.”
China long ago passed Germany as the world’s largest car producer. Increasingly, especially in electric vehicles, it is challenging Germany as both a low-cost and high-quality manufacturer.
Under the circumstances, it’s no surprise that antiestablishment parties are growing in Germany. The far right Alternative for Germany (AfD) currently has more support than any of the governing parties, with one recent poll showing the AfD at 19%, the Social Democrats at 14%, the Greens at 13%, and the Free Democrats at 4%.
Germany should follow the French example and have nuclear power as their main source of energy.
The Greens will destroy them as an industrial power.
There have been lots of advances on safety.
@QuirkyPublicPol1cyForward3mos3MO
Germany used a lot of nuclear power until Merkel pulled them off line.
@Pr0p0rtionalEdLibertarian3mos3MO
Turns out if you commit national economic and demographic self-immolation by enforcing a lunatic-left anti-family and eco-extremist agenda, and then you throw over your allies by flagrantly doing business with their enemies for two decades while they pay for your self-defense, your nation will have major troubles.
@WaspMikeRepublican3mos3MO
Even "cheese eating surrender monkeys" are smarter by keeping their nuclear plants., instead of going all out on solar and wind.
@InnocentKittenDemocrat3mos3MO
Trump would let the Russians have their way in Europe and anything he says is strictly for for his rural White rage vote and would not be by any stretch in the best interest of Germany. What is the point of the article? Surrender to the Russians as the MAGA movement has slavishly (to Trump) become a pro-Putin movement. Dummkopfs don't know who their allies are.
@WaspMikeRepublican3mos3MO
Going all in on the climate scam was the biggest mistake the Germans made. Have they learned anything from this debacle or will they continue to cripple their own economy? Take note, American voters as to which party is preaching the "climate change" gospel.
@EnragedGiraffeConstitution3mos3MO
Trump was right about a lot of things that’s why they’re targeting him.
@SuperiorL1bertyRepublican3mos3MO
Europe hates him because he was forcing them to pony up. Germany is a mess. The once great power can't even field 2 armored divisions. Their aircraft have abysmal readiness ratings in the 20% range. Give me 2 US State National Guard forces and I'll have more than Germany can muster...and our guys actually train.
@EnragedGiraffeConstitution3mos3MO
Why would Germany bother while sucking the US teat? So much better to build windmills instead of aluminum plants for that smug progressive, moral superiority smirk.
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
Trump can say "I told you so" on virtually everything, ok

Trump predicts market crash 'never seen before' if Biden wins 2020
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
He was right – look at our economy. He was right.
@9CJ6CB63mos3MO
Pretty sure we had a MUCH bigger one in 1929….
@Patriot-#1776Constitution3mos3MO
And the crash from boom (1921 – 1929) to global depression (1929 – 1946) was created by the Federal Reserve (1913 – present)
