Please stop turning every issue -- even a war that has already claimed half-a-million lives in which we're complicit with our funding -- to score points against Trump.

As a loyal Democrat for 4 decades, this will be the first time I will not vote for the reelection of a Democrat (or for any Republican) because I'm disgusted and saddened by how our party has been complicit in the mass killings of Palestinians and Ukrainians with our weapons and funds.

And in neither war did we ever have, nor do we now, any strategy to end what we're funding. What's the endgame? That'sa…  Read more

Genuinely curious to understand your position here...

Voting abstention achieves almost nothing. Sure, low voter turnout sends a message, but not one either party has to respond to and, indeed, historically hasn't.

If you truly don't care, then I'd understand that. But I would guess that, given you're commenting on these kinds of stories and have been a Democrat voter for 4 decades, you actually care deeply.

Outside of Biden or Trump and wars in Gaza and Ukraine, doesn't the idea of Democrat policies would appeal to you more?

My contempt for Benjamin Netanyahu (& Trump) knows no bounds. But the war in Gaza is not connected to American presidential politics. Yes Putin would welcome the return of Trump the clueless because he’s a useful tool but the war in Ukraine would be happening regardless of who is the president of the United States. He plays a longer game than that and underestimating him has been a problem for European and Americans leaders for decades. So you’re being simplistic in your assessment of these conflicts.

Putin started this war in 2014 and invaded the rest of Ukraine in 2022. As for Netanyahu, he didn’t start this war, Hamas did. Your comment makes no sense.

It’s really no surprise that both Putin and Netanyahu have both waged wars prior to an election year to get their buddy Trump re-elected, furthering the end of NATO and the USA of we know it.
