We the people decide what direction this country is gonna head into as a whole. We should be on top of list for importance.

I would say yes, but not by much. While we shouldn’t chuff out immense funding or so to other countries if any issues occur in our own, that funding won’t continue if the people aren’t happy with it so there needs to be a sort of 60/40 middle groundish thing.
