Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed the head of the National Security and Defense Council (SNBO), Aleksey Danilov, on Tuesday. The security chief has been known to resort to combative and abrasive rhetoric.
The relevant decree has been published on the Ukrainian president’s official website but provides no reason for the decision.
Aleksandr Litvinenko has since been named as the new SNBO chief. He has been at the helm of the Ukrainian foreign intelligence service since July 2021 and prior to that served as the deputy SNBO head.
Last Week Danilovc insulted a Chinese diplomat. Danilov rebuked Beijing’s special representative on Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, on national TV on Wednesday after the diplomat visited Kiev earlier this month. According to Politico’s sources, he “amplified” a message that his government may boycott international talks on the Ukraine conflict, which Kiev wants to convene without Russia in Switzerland.
During the interview, the Ukrainian official angrily declared that it is up to his nation to decide its fate, and not “some Hui, or whatever his name is.” One of the co-hosts smirked and covered her mouth with her hand, reacting to the play on words.
In Ukrainian and Russian, the name resembles a swear word for male genitalia.

If someone disrespected a foreign diplomat on public television, how would you react, and what action do you believe should be taken?
@9L5DTRJ2mos2MO
I think no matter what you believe you should still have respect for others. Even if you don't agree with them we need to keep open ears and open hearts to hear them out.
@9L5CNHF2mos2MO
if the diplomat just accepted the disrespect I would think he's a coward
@9L5C4PCWomen’s Equality2mos2MO
I would honestly just keep whatever I think about it to myself since I wouldn't want to get involved in political problems, opinions, or choices.
@9L5FDLL2mos2MO
The action that should be taken is that President should dismiss an organization and the security chief should be known to resort to combative and abrasive rhetoric.

Zelensky fired Danilov, who, on Kiev TV, after the Moscow attack, said: "We will give them this kind of fund more often. Is it fun in Moscow
today? I would like to believe we will arrange such fun more often..."

Dictators are not in the business of allowing elections that could remove them from their thrones.
