It's essential to understand that the reason behind the U.S. supporting Israel isn't as simple as colonialism or white supremacy, but rather a complex intertwining of geopolitical, historical, and societal factors. The U.S. support for Israel began after World War II, during a time when decolonization was on the rise. The U.S., in fact, was instrumental in dismantling many colonial empires.

Except it's not very complex.

Israel is a colonial apartheid state, condemned by the global community for their blatant genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people for the past several decades, yet we continue to support and defend them anyway. This is, of course, for many reasons, including our shared histories as violent colonial nations, our mutual xenophobic and Islamophobic actions against peoples we don't like, our capitalist interests in maintaining global sovereignty, our theocratic beliefs in becoming a religious ethnostate, etc. The US cannot condemn Israel for it's actions because the US is responsible for all the same things, and worse.

Nationalism is bad, and that's not complex...
