The ICJ demanded Israel, among others, to try to contain death and damage in the Gaza Strip but stopped short of ordering a ceasefire.
The court says it has jurisdiction to rule in the case.
The court orders Israel to take measures to prevent acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The court says Israel must prevent and punish incitement to genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The court says Israel must allow humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.The court obliges Israel to take more measures to protect but Palestinians but does not order it to end military operations in theGaza Strip.
No Ceasefire ordered by the ICJ
Israel's rejoicing & celebrating this as a greenlight to carry on with its slaughter & destruction of Gaza while ignoring that the ICJ found a "plausible case" for genocide (i.e. that Israel's conduct walks like a genocide & talks like a genocide)
@SimilarFr33SpeechGreen4mos4MO
They did not call for a ceasefire. Told Israel basically to be careful.

Do the ICJ even have the ability to order a ceasefire? I don’t think that was ever an option as pathetic as that is

ICJ ruling is a loss for Israel in that a vast majority (15-2) voted against it. But it's also a win in that ICJ did not call for a ceasefire.
Everyone knows that Israel is a supremacist state committing mass murder. We don't need ICJ to validate that. We need a ceasefire.
Can the court call for a ceasefire? The scope of the case is genocide, not armed conflict in itself. Its an important milestone that the ICJ recognized that Israel's actions amount to genocide, which makes it very difficult for Western supporters with their card blanche arguments

My initial impression is that the ICJ ruling is a huge defeat for Israel, both in substance and by the lopsided votes. ICJ did not order a ceasefire, but ordering it, among other things, to "stop killing members of the group" (Palestinians) it is effectively so.
The most respected and authoritative international court has ruled that (1) Israel is plausibly accused of genocide; (2) Palestinians are at grave risk of irreparable harm from potentially genocidal acts, which Israel must halt.
Once again, enormous thanks to South Africa and everyone who worked and is working on this case. This ruling must be implemented, which means increased popular pressure on all governments to force Genocidal "Israel" to comply.
This is a gaslighting show. In practice it gives Israel the green light
to carry on the genocide.

Why did the Ugandan judge vote against all the provisional measures?
