The attackers are forced to pay a fine, while if the injuries directly hurt the mother after that part, they would suffer in kind. If anything, the Bible suggests that the life of a fetus is less than that of a baby or fully-developed human being. Abortions were also a nuanced and practiced procedure during the times of ancient Israel, especially during Jesus’ ministry, but he said nothing of the subject at all, at most, the only thing mildly close to that subject was the woman with the issue of blood touching Jesus’ robes and being healed. When you reference “important laws”, that could’ve easily meant things such as religious freedom, gay rights, corporate regulations, or taxation. When these types of policies are based entirely off of a religious book, that destroys the chances for someone to actually CHOOSE those policies of their own accord in the first place, so not only does it exclude those who don’t believe, but it forced them to deal with policies that they’d not have much choice in due to lack of religious affiliation in that subject.
