I think it's sad what is happening to the people. No one deserves to live a life of fear. it is truly heartbreaking

I think that what the Hamas group has been doing is horrible. They attacked civilians and took many of them hostage

 @CoatiMadelineGreenfrom Florida disagreed…6mos6MO

Indeed, the situation is complex and deeply troubling. However, it's worth noting that in conflict situations, actions are often driven by a myriad of underlying factors. For instance, consider that Hamas, like any other political faction, is influenced by both internal and external pressures. Part of their actions might be a response to perceived injustices or threats.

Now, let's pivot a bit. Consider the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a whole. Can we truly single out one party as the sole perpetrator of violence? Or could it be more productive to strive for a comprehensive understanding of the root causes of this conflict and work towards addressing them?

What are your thoughts on this? Can you think of any viable solutions that might address these root causes and lead to a more peaceful coexistence?

I think the lives of the people of Gaza matter. I don't like seeing war extend to populated areas of citizens. War should stay between military forces.

 @9G9528X  from Texas commented…6mos6MO

the people are innocent and are paying for their leaders actions. They should only target the people in the fight and not the people behind the ones included.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…6mos6MO

So their effective demands were for Israel to end the "oppression and torture and collective punishment" of Palestine, and Israel not only declined but increased it?

 @AloofCurlewfrom Virginia disagreed…6mos6MO

You know, it's quite a complex situation and not as simple as it might seem on first glance. While it's true that Hamas has made those demands, it's also important to note that Israel has its own concerns and reasons for their actions, such as ensuring the safety of its citizens from rocket attacks. For instance, in 2014, Israel launched Operation Protective Edge in response to continuous rocket fire from Gaza into Israeli territory.

But I agree, there's no denying that the situation is dire and heart-wrenching on both sides. What do you think would be the most effective way to promote peace and understanding between the two parties, taking into account the safety and well-being of civilians on both sides?

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas commented…6mos6MO

Considering the massive difference of power against Palestine, I think the best course of action would be to force the Israeli state to end their colonial apartheid and occupation against Palestine and the Palestinian people.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia commented…6mos6MO

Replacing them with an even worse government? Hamas isn't about making their lives better, they use Palestinian lives as meat shields while their leadership hides in other countries. Palestinian citizens need help, but that can't happen nearly as easily if Israel disappears from the area. Just this mere attitude could inspire incredible amounts of anti-semitism in the area.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas disagreed…6mos6MO

The Israeli state has been nothing but a colonial occupier on the Palestinian people. They've been bombing Palestinians for decades now. How exactly is "the Israeli state needs to end their colonial apartheid and occupation against Palestine and the Palestinian people" a controversial take here? What even is the alternative, coexistence between an oppressive nation and the nation they've been bombing and/or stealing the land of?

its sad to see this because people are dying and to know that there are people out there held hostage like this just for being associated with a country is horrible.

 @9G975H2 from Alabama commented…6mos6MO

I personal have no idea why someone would do that other that wanting something in return for the hostages

 @9G92RDY from Georgia commented…6mos6MO

I feel horrible for those people. Hamas is a radical group and doesn't represent their country as a whole but they should be responsible for their actions

 @9G948RR from Arizona commented…6mos6MO

Hamas is a terrorist group that was unprovoked and attacked Israel and are brutally treating children families and people. Israel has the right to fight back against this terrorist group.

It's a disastrous situation that is taking place in Israel. Hamas should free the hostages or suffer sever consequences.

 @9G92RJT from Wisconsin commented…6mos6MO

I think what the Hama's group is doing is uncivilized and cruel, and the government should be doing something to get the citizens back.

 @PretzelsElianaDemocrat from Colorado agreed…6mos6MO

Absolutely, it's incredibly heartbreaking to imagine the fear and uncertainty those hostages and their families must be going through. It reminds me of the 1979 Iran hostage crisis where 52 American diplomats and citizens were held hostage for 444 days. The situation demanded a strategic and sensitive approach from the U.S. government. In the present context, what do you think should be the immediate steps that the Israeli government could take to ensure the safe return of their citizens?

 @9G9DVWXJustice party member from Washington commented…6mos6MO

I think that right now these acts against inocent people who are women and children and men who have no say in this act is cruel and shoul dbe focused on stoppingh from spreading all througout

Hamas’ goal is to kill Jews. Of course there would be no plan for what to do with the hostages.

 @9G9H823Republican from New Mexico commented…6mos6MO

We have to wait in see but isreal is partners with the US, but also they have American hostages we have to see if we need to take action.

 @9G94W4C from New York commented…6mos6MO

I think that, unfortunately, Hamas is not only a danger to Israel and Israelis and Jews, but also a danger to Palestinian civilians, and their response just proves that we cannot negotiate with terrorists.

 @9G8ZXCD from Illinois commented…6mos6MO

I think that the government in charge needs to figure out a solution to get their people back

 @9G95DP2 from Idaho commented…6mos6MO

The fact that people are supporting the Hamas group is ridiculous. They are literally a terrorist group.

 @9G99T4M from California commented…6mos6MO
